I began
this web site in 1998 on a whim; I did not intend to leave it up as I was
simply experimenting. As time passed I found more things I wanted to try
and the page has evolved from there to what I have today. In the beginning
I had no problem finding time to work on the page, but at the moment that
is not the case. So for the time being I intend to work on it as I can
and hopefully before too much longer I will be able to return to a more
regular schedule. Now a few notes about what you will find here; you are
not going to find recruiting news here, I think there's enough of that
already on the web. There probably won't be a lot of fancy graphics,
bells and whistles. It's not exactly that I don't like all that stuff,
the truth is I don't have the foggiest of how to do any of that. So I suppose
we can call this the Poor Man's Kentucky Web Page. I want this site
to be a little different then the same old things we see at other pages
covering UK Sports. Most of what I have here is and will be more along
the historical lines. I hope I can give a glimpse of UK Basketball from
other eras and do so in an interesting and somewhat entertaining manner.
During the summer of
1998 I was looking back at some old magazines and papers covering the 1978
Championship team. I began to make a few notes and, well one thing led
to another as they say and when I was done I had a 30,000 word document.
I decided maybe a few other UK fans might be interested in reliving the
year most of us remember as "the season of no joy". Below you can return
and see if it seems as unpleasant now as we were told it was then.
"I did go to your web site and read your story. I know it has been
21+ years but it seems like only yesterday. Thanks for taking the time
and also being such a loyal fan to put it all together. Obviously, that
was a year I will always cherish. I did have fun too!!! Thanks again,"

The
Fabulous Forties
A new project starting in the summer of 2000 that will be on going
for some time. I am attempting to take a look back at what I feel is the
most fascinating decade of Kentucky Basketball, the 1940's.
Latest Update: March 2006
Bent
Rims and Dirt Courts
A look back at basketball as I grew up in the mountains of Kentucky.
I think many of you may have had similiar experiences.
